When you are on the road and the electrics on your car stop communicating with your caravan, you can often diagnose and fix the problem quickly if you know what all those points on the plug and socket are connected to.

You may also be happy enough to connect them up yourself when installing a new plug or socket if you know what goes where.

The two most common types of connections are ‘7 pin round’ and ’12 pin flat’. These handy guides, courtesy of Narva, are easy to follow.
